Selecting a Dog House

You want to make the correct decision for the proper size dog house. Here are some easy tips to follow to measure and select the best size dog house for your pet. The smallest door your dog can comfortably enter through and enough room to stand up and turn around is all that is needed.

Important : Please Measure Your Dog

  1. Standing Height: Measure from floor to the top of  your dog’s head to find the House Height.

  2. Shoulder Height: Measure from the floor to the top of dog’s shoulders to find the Door Height.

  3. Body Length: Measure dogs body length -no need to include tail length to find the House Length.

How Tall?: Should be at least 25% taller than your dog’s standing height, but no more than 50% taller than your dog’s standing height (house height is at roof peak).

Door Size: Should be at least 3/4 of your dog’s shoulder height. I recommend a door height that’s equal to or a bit taller than shoulder height so your dog can go in and out comfortably.

House Length: Should be at least equal to your dog’s body length (a bit longer is optimal), but no more than 25% longer than your dog’s body length.

Dog Weight: Finally, there are dog weight restrictions for many houses, especially those with raised floors. Do not buy a house, that exceeds the recommended weight limit.
